What WhatsApp costs through the API

On the WhatsApp Business API you pay two parties: the tool you use, and Meta for some messages. Here is what is free, what Meta charges for, and how to estimate your month.

Two bills, not one

Your tool bills its subscription: a fixed price, or a price per person.

Meta bills messages on its own invoice, with its own payment method. Alatusa adds nothing on top of Meta's prices.

What is free

Two kinds of messages cost nothing at Meta.

  • Messages your customers send you.
  • From 1 October 2026, your replies: the first 1,000 per number each month.

What Meta charges for

Meta publishes its rates per country and changes them from time to time; the sources below go to Meta's own pages.

  • Replies beyond the first 1,000 per number in a month, per message.
  • Messages you start, such as an order update or a reminder. These are templates, and Meta charges per message at the rate for the customer's country.

Estimate your month

Count three things for one month: the replies you send per number, the messages you start, and the countries your customers are in.

  • A quiet month, with 640 replies and no messages you start, costs nothing at Meta.
  • A busy month, with 1,240 replies and 85 order updates, means 240 replies and 85 templates at Meta's rates.

Next to your tool's price

Tools charge for the subscription in different ways: a flat price, a price per person, or by monthly active contacts. The comparison shows each tool's monthly bill for your team in euros.
